Betty Boop Rascal Rescue Fund for 2024
It has been one year since Jeff and Beverley Evans’ dear Betty Boop (2021-2023) crossed the rainbow bridge. During her brief lifetime, Betty survived operations as a young kitten to remove fatty polyps that burst her ear eardrums and nearly cut off her esophagus and endured the 84-day experimental treatment to cure the dreaded FIP virus before finally succumbing to feline lymphoma. Despite being only 20 months old, Betty’s fighting spirit inspired thousands who knew her personally or followed her on social media.
Shortly after her death, Jeff & Beverley established the Betty Boop Rascal Rescue Fund at Cat’s Cradle of the Shenandoah Valley as a way “to ensure other cats have the same fighting chance to life that we were able to give our dear Betty.” With the generous support of Betty’s family and many of her friends and followers, the initial fund totaled over $16,000! One hundred percent of those donations went toward medical treatments for feral or underprivileged cats beyond the standard spay/neuter and shots for which Cat’s Cradle offers assistance. These procedures included the removal of ear polyps like Betty had, treatment for a level-four heart murmur, and other life-threatening disorders. Many of these cats would not have survived without these funds.
In honor of Betty Boop, the Evanses have kicked off the 2024 Rascal Rescue Fund with a $10,000 donation and would like to invite everyone to contribute to this important cause inspired by Betty Boop’s tenacity and determination.
